Lenten Series: The Sunflower

On the Possibilities and Limits of Forgiveness: Wednesday evenings beginning February 21st at 7pm

Join adult education this Lent for a five week series exploring Forgiveness.  What does it mean to forgive?  Who has the right to forgive?  Are there actions that are unforgivable?  What would the world be like without forgiveness?  What do the Scriptures provide?  We will use Simon Wiesenthal’s book The Sunflower as the basis for discussion.  Mr. Wiesenthal recalls his demoralizing life in a concentration camp, particularly an incident in which a dying Nazi soldier asks Wiesenthal for forgiveness for his crimes against the Jews.  What would you do?  A host of writers, including the Dalai Lama, Desmond Tutu, and Primo Levi offer their answers and reflections to Wiesenthal’s ultimate question on forgiveness.  We will meet on Wednesday nights from Feb. 21st through March 21st at 7:00pm. We plan to order several copies of The Sunflower.  If you would like one ordered for you, please let Terrie know in the Parish Office by Feb. 9th.  For more information about the course, please email Tom at tsynan@gracechurchamherst.org
